Untitled (2015)

for saxophone quartet

 

 

This piece was premiered by the SUSQ Quartet on April 8th, 2015, and this performance was part of the quartet's final program

at Susquehanna University. The piece is inspired by two specific sets observed in the sixth movement of Bartok's 14 Bagatelles for Solo Piano. I was intrigued by the way Bartok achieved a cycle of tension and release with these sets and decided to experiment with them. This is the result. Untitled is dedicated to the other three members of the SUSQ Quartet whom I had the honor and priviledge to play with for three years. These men have greatly influenced my life as a musician, and I will be eternally grateful for their influence and friendship.
