Suite for Saxophone

Ensemble (2015)

for Sno S A T B Bs saxophones

This piece began as a lone work for the saxophone ensemble at Susquehanna University. Dr. Gail Levinsky asked me to write a short fanfare for the

group in the summer of 2013. After the premiere of the Fanfare in 2014, Dr. Levinsky and I agreed upon expanding the work. The second movement, Folk Song, is inspired by the folk music of the Blue Ridge mountains along the Shenandoah Valley where I grew up. The Finale is a short, quirky movement that plays around with major and minor thirds. As of right now, the piece is open for additional movements and I anticipate it growing into a substantial work for saxophone ensemble/sextet.

Performed by the Susquehanna University Saxophone Ensemble on April 8th, 2015.
