Septet (2014)

for flute, Bb clarinet, violin, cello,

2 marimbas, and vibraphone

 

This piece was premiered on November 11th, 2014 in Stretansky Hall at Susquehanna University as a part of the Student

Composers' concert. Most of the work is derived from the first five notes of the piece. I came up with the main motif before traveling abroad to Italy in May of 2014. During my time in Italy, the motif went through many variations and changes as I experienced my cross-cultural emersion. Once I was stateside again, I put all of the ideas that had been floating around in my head together.
