Esplanade (2019)

for symphonic Band

An esplanade is a flat stretch of land along which one walks for pleasure. The inspiration for this piece comes from the eccentric

tunes and melodies that I hear in my head as I walk. The piece explores a dissonant fanfare contrasted by a chorale and how on a walk these somewhat conflicting ideas can come together. This piece was commissioned by the Mifflinburg Area High School Symphonic Band led by director Matthew T. Labar.
